The 10 apps you need right now!
- December 10, 2018
Let’s talk apps. Whether you have an android or an iPhone, apps can be a total lifesaver when it comes to creating content for social media. Got a dodgy-looking photo? Don’t worry! Apps can help! A video that’s way too long and boring? We’ve got the app to help with that, too! Need to create a graphic? Yep, there’s an app for that.
Here are our top 10!
We’re having so much fun with CutStory for Instagram! It cleverly snips your videos into bite-sized Insta Story chunks (15 seconds each) so you can post a full narrative in short segments. It’s awesome! It’s free, for iOS.
It’s time lapse – but not as you know it. Using Instagram’s in-house stabilisation, Hyperlapse shoots the most incredible time-lapse videos, which are instantly stabilised to smooth out the bumps and give it a cinematic feeling. It’s free for both iOS and android, although the android version is called Microsoft Hyperlapse Mobile.
If you love cool typography, you’ll adore Wordswag. Described as a “graphic designer in your pocket” – and available for both iOS and Android, it helps you create awesome custom text layouts in a matter of seconds. It costs $4.99.
Hype Type offers cool typography, but – wait for it – animates them, too. Choose different fonts and colours and then they are animated to move across your screen when posting. You can even add music over a video and crop your clip to the right dimensions. This one’s free, but unfortunately is only for iOS.
In Shot is a great mobile editing app for video clips – it allows you to create borders in different colours around your images and videos, crop photos and trim videos, as well as create collages. In Shot lets you easily join videos together, add the speed and customise them with text, music, artwork, filters and voiceovers. It’s free! (But only for iOS.)
With VSCO, you can capture, edit, share and discover photos. The app features high-quality filters and also offers a host of free editing tools like fade, clarity, skin tone, tint, sharpen, saturation, temperature. It’s free on iOS and android.
Splice is a free video-editing app by GoPro. Not only is it a powerful video editor, it even has a library of free music and sound effects for you to use. It’s free for iOS.
Filmora is a free video editor that doesn’t put a watermark on your videos or limit the length of your videos. It is available on both Android and iOS devices. It’s available for both iOS or Android, for free.
Over is one of the most popular apps for editing photos and videos. With Over, you can design social media posts, ads, posters, and more, using their customizable templates. It’s available for both iOS or Android, for free.
Last but not least, Canva helps you create professional designs and graphics. It’s just like the grown-up desktop version of Canva, but more portable! It’s available for both iOS or Android, for free.
